Tuesday 29th - Tuesday 3rd June 2pm – 4pm (6-week course) A six-week course which covers the basic techniques of getting started with pastels. Each week you’ll be guided on how to master a different technique and then put it into practice. We will be working from simple still life objects as well photo references. By the end of the course, you’ll have gained an understanding of how to use pastels to block in your art work and apply techniques to describe light and shadow. You will be guided on how to choose the right colour combinations depending on the subject matter as well as being encouraged to play and experiment with this beautiful expressive media. MATERIALS The Tutor will be using the following pastels purchased from The Art Shop Skipton: *Inscribe Soft Colour Pastels Half Stick Set of 48 Colours £8.99. Sign up for their membership in-store and receive a discount, reducing them down to £7.45 a set. If you already have a similar set of pastels then please bring them along with you and and you'll be advised on how to use them for this course. Please don’t worry if you don’t have the exact colours as the Tutor will advise you on the closest match. *Otherwise please purchase this set of pastels and bring them along. You will also need: Paper stumps Tortillons (used for blending and smudging). You can buy these in sets or just have a couple to begin with. Check they are in stock before you visit The Art Shop Skipton or purchase them online. Materials provided Fixative will be provided to secure and protect your pastel work. The Tutor will provide the pastel paper for students to ensure everyone is using the same toned colour and surface to achieve the effects and techniques set out for the lesson. Cancellations, refunds and exchanges: If you cancel your course or class 14 clear days or more before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your course or class less than 14 clear days before the start date, refunds will be given at the discretion of Craven Arts. No refunds or partial refunds will be given once the course has started. Craven Arts reserves the right to make alterations to the published details course as necessary and/or cancel the course. In the event that the course has to be cancelled or rescheduled, we will attempt to contact you with as much notice as possible and you will receive a full refund. Craven Arts cannot take responsibility for any of your travel and other costs and/or expenses associated with your attendance or planned attendance of the course (including in the event of changes or cancellation by the Craven Arts). You cannot resell or transfer your place at the course or class without the Craven Arts consent.
