Stone Carving with Alex Macey Thursday 23rd January 10am to 4pm £120 for the session All materials provided. Join us for a day filled with discovery, craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of bringing stone to life in your own unique way. Suitable for complete beginners and beyond. About the Class: Embark on a journey of creativity and craftsmanship with Alex Macey, a seasoned local stone mason, as your guide. Unleash your artistic potential as you carve a 2D image of your choosing* into the canvas of stone. Guided by our experienced stonemason, you'll master fundamental masonry skills and refine your technique in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere. *Please send Alex the image you wish to use on the day to check if it is possible to make it during the session. About your Tutor: Alex is a qualified and experienced stonemason based in Ripon. He apprenticed as a banker mason (carving stone to a templet) and worked at William Anelays and various smaller masonry firms in York. He has been self employed for 18 years where he accomplished plenty of stone repairs, restorations and repointing with traditional lime mortar, usually on listed buildings. He has undertaken many commissions such as Green Man carvings, fireplaces, replacement plaques and a variety of lettering commissions. What’s Included: All materials and equipment.
