Spend the day exploring careers in social media, TV, and film. You’ll gain hands-on experience in creating micro-documentaries – from setting up interviews and using a camera, to editing your own footage. Industry professionals will also share insights into jobs in the screen sector and how to access them.
Your finished films will be showcased on Sunday afternoon at Skipton Plaza Cinema, alongside short films by professional filmmakers.

A morning session for anyone over 18 with an interest in film and TV – from established creatives to those just starting out.
This event offers:
• Networking opportunities for creative professionals working in the screen industries
• Insights from Screen Yorkshire, INDIs, and The Square Lens Alliance on what to do once your project is made.
• Space for local artists and creatives to connect and explore opportunities in film and TV
Plus a Q&A with Brendan Nicholson an established Sound Re-Recording Mixer with over 25 years’ experience.
Brendan became the lead Re-Recording Mixer at Pinewood Studios and was involved in the evolution of sound mixing workflows from linear 35mm analogue tape to contemporary nonlinear DAW’s. He relocated to Skipton 5 years ago to service a freelance career; Brendan now balances working between North Yorkshire and postproduction facilities in London and the South East. He has been involved at every level of film & tv mixing, with numerous high-profile credits to his name including Heads Of State, Joy, Yesterday, Bridget Jones Edge of Reason, Bridget Jones Baby.

An afternoon of inspiring short film screenings, featuring:
• Work produced by local young people in Saturday’s workshop
• Highlights from INDIs on Tour and the INDIs Awards (films by 16–25-year-olds)
• Dawn Feather’s Joy of Dance
In the second half, INDIs will invite young people (up to 25) to share their thoughts on the future of film watching.
The screenings are open to all, but we especially encourage Saturday’s workshop participants to attend with their family and friends.
